Pruning

(From the Visions of Shiloh)

I was walking in the vineyard with the Lord. At one time it had been a place of fear and bad memories but now it was filled with vines and grapes.

Gently, the Lord inspected each vine and branch and each grape. He began to prune them and the branches produced even more grapes than before.

Then I saw the Lord taking my place in many of my memories and I began to see my life through his eyes.

Comments -

As the Lord tends to the vines, which are our lives, he prunes away the branches that don’t bear fruit. There are many directions, times and pursuits in our lives that do not glorify God and those must be pruned back to make room for the branches that do.

In this vision I saw the Lord replacing me in my memories and that was a representation of Him giving me insight into those times. He will show us how and why he prunes us the way that he does. He wants us to see those things through His eyes, so we can understand why he removes some people, things, thoughts and even places from our lives.

They may have constituted branches in our lives that were not glorifying to God nor producing enough fruit. He did this as gently or as quickly as he could, so new branches could grow and our lives could be full. He uses his word, his discipline and his love to accomplish this. His work is perfect and divine.

“For Yahweh has comforted Zion. He has comforted all her waste places, and has made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness will be found in them, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.” - Isaiah 51:3

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” - John 15:1-5

Prayer -

Thank you Jesus for tending to my life every day. Thank you for pruning me back so I can grow in you and glorify your name. Thank you for removing the branches that don’t produce eternal life in me. Thank you for your love and your gentle attention to this vineyard. Amen.
