Sundaes at the Soda Shop

 (From the Visions of Shiloh)

There was a soda shop, like in the 1950’s.

We all sat at the bar as we waited on the person behind the counter (Jesus) who was serving up sundaes for us, with whipped cream.

I was about to dig in when he said “Wait’.

He came around and put the cherries on top.

Then he said, ‘Okay.’

So we ate. It was perfect.

Jesus is preparing something for us in life, like a really good sundae dessert. But we are impatient to dig in. We see the way to take life for ourselves, to pick up the spoon and enjoy it. Yet if we jump ahead of God, we might miss out on something better.

There are a lot of good things in life that God has provided. They come along and we want them now. But if we stop and wait, pray and ask, then with a thankful heart, partake when the time is right, it will be so much better.

We must wait on Jesus to make it perfect. To put the cherry on the top. Give God room in your life to perfect it. Be patient. Listen, Trust and Obey. He only wants to bless you.

“But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.”  - Isaiah 40:31

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”  - James 1:2-4

Prayer -

Dear Lord, Thank you for your work in my life and the blessings you plan for me. Please help me to listen for your direction each day, knowing you will reward my steadfast, patient heart. I will listen to you. I will trust you. I will obey. I give you room in my life to bring a perfect blessing. Thank you. Amen.
