The Island (part one)

 (From the Visions of Shiloh)

At the sea shore a hand suddenly reaches down into the sand and pulls up a silver dollar. It is the Lord. He starts skipping silver dollars across the water, pulling more out of the sand, again and again.

After hesitating for a moment, I imitate His actions.
We both are having a good time skipping the silver dollars across the water.

Then He stops and touches my shoulder.

He points out over the water.

I stop and look, but I cannot see what He is pointing at.

As we draw near to the Lord, and we imitate what we think the Lord is doing, trying like children to please Him, he rewards our efforts by helping us to see farther and peer into the depths of God's world and purposes.
He begins with earthly things so he can adjust our focus onto Heavenly things.

This is like the tradition of religion. As we make a practice of a more 'holy' life, we begin to see spiritual truths. But that is only where we begin. We were not supposed to stay at the shore our whole lives.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known. But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:11-13

Prayer -

Lord help me see beyond my present circumstances. Help me focus on the revelation of your will in my life. As I draw near to you in prayer, in word and in deed, please open my eyes to the deeper truth and what you want me to learn. Help me to know that there are more aligned with me than with my enemies. Thank you Lord. Amen.
