The Parrot (Part Two)

 (From the Visions of Shiloh)

continued -

Then the parrot flew up into a cherry tree. It picked a cherry with its beak. The cherry fell into the person’s hand and they ate it.

The parrot flew back down and removed scales from the person’s eyes with its beak. Then there was a full circle of people in white with rainbow-colored parrots on their shoulders.

Comments -

When Saul, who became Paul, transforming from a persecutor of Christians into the Christian who wrote much of the New Testament, he had been blinded by God until the scales fell from his eyes.

When the Holy Spirit brings God’s provision to our hand, we have the choice to eat. When we make that choice, eating the fruit of the Spirit, partaking in God’s nature, the scales are removed from our eyes.

As we look with eyes changed, healed and full of God’s light, we can look past our judgment and our own sin to love others as God does.

Ananias departed and entered into the house. Laying his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was baptized.
 - Acts 9:17-18

*Optional Assignment -

Think about somebody today, somebody from church or another person who professes to be a Christian, but that you may not personally care about. Maybe they rub you the wrong way. Now ask God to remove the scales from your own eyes, so that you can see them with His.

Prayer -

Dear Lord, please help me today to have a pure heart before you, filled with your Spirit, so I may see the work of God in others and glorify your name. Thank you. Amen.
